Second phase of trainings on the whistle-blowing system summed up — 600 persons underwent training

Today marked the end of the second stage of trainings being held within the scope of the whistle-blowing campaign, conducted simultaneously with two training sessions at the Ministry of Justice and Yerevan Municipality. Representatives of the private sector and local self-government bodies, more than 600 students, pupils, and teachers participated in the training.
Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan addressed the attendees with an opening speech in which he mentioned that the fight against corruption is one of the priority directions of the Government, and, in this context, the whistle-blowing system is of paramount importance. The Deputy Minister also informed that the one-year cycle of the campaign will soon be summed up, during which a more than 200% increase in reports has already been recorded.
Head of the Department for Development and Monitoring of Anti-Corruption Policy of the Ministry of Justice Yeprem Karapetyan presented to the participants of the training courses held at the Ministry of Justice the significance of the whistle-blowing institution in the context of the anti-corruption policy.
Greeting the participants of the training, Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan emphasised the importance of the whistle-blowing institution and the high level of effectiveness of the actions taken by the Ministry in this direction.
The campaign coordinator, Advisor to the Minister of Justice Liana Tovmasyan presented the results of the nationwide awareness-raising campaign, noting that in October-November 2024, the highest monthly record of whistle-blowing reports was registered — 40 reports, compared to the previous 2-5 (statistics available at https://azdararir.am/am/statistics).
Liana Tovmasyan stated that the qualitative indicators of whistle-blowing reports have also significantly increased - in the period between January and October 2024, 57.71% of the whistle-blowing reports submitted to the platform were verified through operational intelligence actions.
During the awareness-raising and educational events taking place within the scope of the program, the whistle-blowing institution, types of whistle-blowing, means of protection for whistle-blowers, and the ways of using the unified whistle-blowing platform were introduced to the participants. A total of 21 trainings were conducted in Yerevan and 4 marzes of the Republic of Armenia (600 persons underwent training).
The trainings are conducted by the "Armenian Lawyers Association" NGO, with funding provided by the USAID.
