Minister meets with students as part of anti-corruption awareness campaign

As part of the public awareness campaign titled "Anti-Corruption Awareness Week" initiated by the Ministry of Justice, today a number of state bodies held an open doors day for students. The meeting with officials ended with a discussion meeting held with Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Srbuhi Galyan in the administrative building of the Ministry of Justice. Srbuhi Galyan remarked that this campaign is of great importance from the perspective of the fight against corruption and that the role of young people is fundamental in this struggle. The Minister stated that students are the lucid ones of Armenia and should not only uphold the "zero tolerance for corruption" principle, but should also take the lead in disseminating it. The Minister of Justice spoke about corruption as a broad, multi-layered and dynamic phenomenon, emphasising that the fight against it can only succeed if it is systemic and inclusive in nature. By directions of the fight against corruption, the Minister presented the steps that the government has taken in areas such as corruption prevention, revelation of corruption-related crimes, as well as anti-corruption education and public awareness, while stressing the need to ensure their continuity. Touching upon the current challenges in the fight against corruption, the Minister of Justice talked about the need to change the mindset of Armenian citizens and the need for officials to remain loyal to the integrity system, and highlighted the important role of the Corruption Prevention Commission in this regard. The meeting ended with a question-and-answer session.
Within the scope of the open doors event held as part of "Anti-Corruption Awareness Week", the students were received at the Prosecutor General's Office, the Corruption Prevention Commission, the Anti-Corruption Committee and the Anti-Corruption Court.
