Minister of Justice and the wife of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia attend festive New Year’s event at "Abovyan" Penitentiary Institution

"I fully hope that all of you will find the strength that will give you the opportunity to talk about demonstration of lawful behaviour in liberty in one or two years, or for some of you, in a shorter period of time, and that you will be prepared for that, and, of course, our objective is to support this," this is what Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Srbuhi Galyan said in her closing remarks at the solemn opening ceremony for the festive New Year’s event at "Abovyan" Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. Wife of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Anna Hakobyan was a special guest at the festive event, and Deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and other officials participated in the event. Addressing women deprived of liberty, Srbuhi Galyan said that more re-socialisation programmes will be planned in the coming year. She congratulated the participants of the event on the coming New Year, wishing those in custody to return to their families and an opportunity to enjoy liberty outside the walls of the penitentiary institution. The festive event was organised by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, at the initiative of "For the sake of liberty" legal non-governmental organisation.
