The training course entitled "Prevention of Domestic Violence" — organised under the CoE Project "Ending violence against women and promoting gender equality in Armenia" — has kicked off. The course aims to enhance the legal and practical capabilities of compulsory enforcement officers in preventing and combating the domestic violence.
At the outset of the course, Deputy Minister of Justice Anna Karapetyan greeted the participants and expressed gratitude to the CoE Office in Yerevan and the Project team for organising a training course devoted to such an important topic. She emphasised the importance of continuous development of professional capabilities and enrichment of legal knowledge of specialists involved in the sector in order to prevent domestic violence and give effective response to the latter. Deputy Minister Anna Karapetyan stated that such courses will be ongoing, with the aim of identifying the practical issues and jointly developing solutions that would, if necessary, serve as a ground for changes in terms of legislation or practice.
Within the scope of the course, it is planned to discuss, with the involvement of local and international experts, the challenges related to access to justice in the cases of domestic violence, the issues that emerge in enforcement proceedings, as well as to touch upon the international standards and approaches concerning violence against women and domestic violence.
