Deputy Minister presents to international colleague the activities implemented after ratification of the Rome Statute

Deputy Minister of Justice Anna Karapetyan received Registrar of the International Criminal Court Osvaldo Zavala Giler. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Viktor Byagov. Speaking about the importance of the International Criminal Court, the Deputy Minister reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to strengthening co-operation with the International Criminal Court and making its contribution to the development of the international criminal justice system. Anna Karapetyan presented the activities carried out under the co-ordination of the Ministry of Justice following ratification of the Rome Statute, including the drawing up of a package of legislative changes, discussions, training for officers of law-enforcement authorities, the drafting of a relevant guide for co-operation and other directions, emphasising that all this will be ongoing. Osvaldo Zavala Giler highly appreciated the steps that Armenia has already taken in this short period, expressing willingness to provide the necessary support to improve the legislative framework and implement active institutional mechanisms. At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasised the need to continue the constructive co-operation, contributing to the strengthening of the international criminal justice system.
