Minister Davit Harutyunyan highly appreciated the co-operation between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Armenia and expressed his satisfaction concerning the fact of recent ratification of the concluded Agreement “On Transfer of the Convicts between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran" by the legislative body of Iran, assuring that it will convey new quality to the current co-operation in the legal sector.

During the meeting the parties discussed a number of issues concerning institutional reforms in the healthcare system of the penitentiary institutions, touched upon the rights to the healthcare enshrined in the newly amended Constitution and the mechanisms of their implementation.

In the process of development of legal acts deriving from the constitutional reforms, the President of the Republic mostly emphasised the importance of ensuring their quality, underlining, at the same time, that the relevant drafts should be submitted to the Government or the National Assembly ahead of the set deadline so that it becomes possible to properly organise their final adoption.

Davit Harutyunyan expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for her effective co-operation and introduced the activities that are being carried out in the legislative field after the constitutional reforms. In this context, the Minister set aside the changes expected under the draft Judicial Code and pointed out that the emphasis will be placed upon the guarantees ensuring internal and external independence of the judicial system.
