Subsequent session of the Steering Committee of the EU Budget Support Project on “Support to Human Rights Protection in Armenia” was held
During the session, the Armenian party presented the process of activities carried out for ensuring general (only regarding the Action Plan for Human Rights Protection) and special preconditions of the EU Budget Support Project on ''Support to Human Rights Protection in Armenia'', as well as the issues related to implementation of the Project.
Workshop entitled “EU-Armenia Strategic Policy Dialogue within the scope of reforms in the justice sector of the Republic of Armenia”
Minister Zeynalyan attached importance to the draft Strategy for Judicial and Legal Reforms in the Republic of Armenia and the Action Plan deriving therefrom, which will serve as a basis for further co-operation between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union. It is expected that the Government will adopt the draft Strategy and the Action Plan by the end of 2018. Minister Zeynalyan emphasised the invaluable support of the EU to the justice sector of the Republic of Armenia and attached importance to the ensuring of continuity of the partnership.

UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan; UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of Armenia Shombi Sharp; Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Healthcare and Social Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Hakobyan; Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Mane Tandilyan; Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Arman Tatoyan and others participated in the meeting.
Issues regarding the fight against violence against children discussed
Deputy Director of the “Legal Education and Rehabilitation Programmes Implementation Centre” SNCO of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Gayane Hovakimyan also participated in the meeting. Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Suren Krmoyan highly appreciated this project being implemented by the UNICEF and devoted to the fight against violence against children and the protection of their rights.

The objectives of the Probation Service are to implement individual planning for execution of non-custodial punishments and alternative measures of restraint, assessing the risks and taking into account the needs of the probation beneficiary; to provide reports on the probation beneficiary in regard to conditional early release from serving the punishment or replacement of the punishment with a milder punishment, the cancellation of conviction; to execute non-custodial punishments and other coercive measures imposed by the court; to execute alternative measures of restraint during criminal proceedings, etc.

During the session, issues regarding application of the latest technologies in the field of exchange and storage of information in the sphere of provision of legal assistance in CIS Member States, the legislative regulations in the sphere of implementation of public control over the activities of bodies and institutions imposing punishments and other criminal liability measures, as well as issues regarding implementation of the Action Plan of the Council of the Ministers of Justice of the CIS Member States in the course of 2014-2018 were discussed.

Persons holding public positions and public servants are obliged to transfer gifts exceeding AMD 75.000 to the state or the community, as prescribed by the Government
Where the value of such gifts exceeds AMD 75.000, they shall be registered as the property of the state or community.

Notice: What gifts are considered as permissible for a judge?
Where a judge has received gifts not considered as permissible or considered as permissible (except for gifts received from a close relative), which are received from the same person and the value of which exceeds one hundred thousand Armenian drams or exceeds four hundred thousand Armenian drams during a calendar year and assessed by the Disciplinary Commission as not permissible, the judge shall be obliged to return it or pay an equivalent compensation to the giver of the gift within a period of one week following receipt of the gift. Where the gift cannot be returned or compensated equivalently within the specified time period, the judge shall be obliged to transfer it to the Committee of State Property Management within a period of one week following receipt of the gift.
