Today, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan received Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia Michael Banzhaf. Welcoming the Ambassador, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the Government of Germany for the assistance provided to Armenia, including the assistance within the scope of co-operation with the European Union, and the productive partnership, and presented the tight reform agenda of the Government aimed at judicial and legal, anti-corruption, human rights protection and penitentiary sectors.

Today, a regular sector-specific public discussion of the draft National Strategy for Human Rights Protection and the Action Plan for 2020-2022 deriving therefrom took place with participation of Deputy Minister of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan. It was related to the sector of protection of educational, healthcare, social insurance, children's and economic rights. Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly Naira Zohrabyan and about three dozens of representatives of public and private sectors participated in the discussion as well.

On 28 October, upon the initiative of the "Centre for the implementation of legal education and rehabilitation programmes" SNCO of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, the event "Education for all" devoted to the international education day took place in "Armavir" Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, with the support of managerial staff of the institution. Within the framework of the event an exhibition-sale entitled "Union of Silence" was organised, where handicrafts of persons sentenced to imprisonment were presented.

On 19 September 2019, the Penitentiary Service submitted a negative report on early conditional release of life-sentenced convict N. Hunanyan. On 23 October 2019, the Probation Service submitted a negative report as well.
